Our Director
Joash Omondi is a filmmaker, screenwriter, editor, and composer based in Nairobi, Kenya. A multidisciplinary artist by nature, Joash has consistently expanded his practice across the entire filmmaking process, making him an indispensable creative force on every project he undertakes.
His acclaimed short film Jua Kali, a proof of concept for an upcoming feature, has screened at numerous prestigious festivals including the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), Clermont-Ferrand, Show Me Shorts, and Tampere, among others, earning three awards along the way.
His films continue to explore the tension between interior lives and collective systems, drawing from the complexities of life in Kenya.

Yasmin Hassan is a Nairobi-based producer and finance partner at Wheelbarrow Films. With a background in financial consultancy across both private and non-profit sectors, Yasmin brings a rare blend of fiscal precision and creative intuition to every project she undertakes.
Currently, Yasmin is the finance partner and producer at Wheelbarrow Films. Since joining the company, she has facilitated the production of over 30 commercials and two short films, overseeing projects from development through to delivery with a sharp eye for both budget and story. Her work is driven by a passion for empowering homegrown narratives and building the infrastructure needed for a thriving Kenyan film industry.
